Week 16 - Day 73

Wednesday
Gutter day!  My new deck needed gutters and we decided to replace the wooden gutters for rest of the whole house. Our gutters  always reminded me of some kind of strange roman viaduct system, crazy bits going all over the place and made with weird bits of metal. The new ones look great.

Week 16 - Day 73

Wednesday
Anna has started to install the pot lights on my floor today. yoohoo!

Week 16 - Day 71

Tuesday
The skylight went in today. Picture is far too boring to post here.  The plumbing and electrical rough-in continue.  Little bit by little bit, we are getting there.

Week 16 - Day 70

Monday
I spent some time moving the fireplace bricks from the living room to outside.  The last of the drywall needs to come off and the electrician needs access at some point. Loads of fun.

Week 16 - Day 70

Monday
Will took down the cover over the back deck, not really sure what to call it.

Week 16 - Day 70

Monday
Now this is the few I could have had, if the city had said yes to the deck in front and we had oodles of money.  I am poking my head out of the skylight opening.

Week 16 - Day 70

Monday
Did I mention the big honking skylight that came the other day.  It is HUGE.  Will assures me that it won't appear as big when installed.  For my bedroom, by the way.

Week 15 - Weekend

Spent all day lugging demo stuff to the bin, up and down , up and down.  Hopefully, the last of that. Did I mention how sick I am of doing dishes?  Really sick of it. And cooking is no treat either.  It all still seems like a galaxy far,  far away.

My kitchen with a dishwasher some day.

Ceiling in by bedroom with evidence of the nob and tube.

Old bathroom stacks which came up in front of my bathroom window
and has now been moved around the corner of the dormer.

For Gary.  Here is the drain from my deck going
through the ceiling in Linda's kitchen and outside.

Week 15 - Weekend

Too cute.

Week 15 - Weekend

On Anna's advice, and I really wanted to do it anyway, I took down the ceiling in my bedroom area this weekend. Enlisted a friend to come help.  Anybody's guess who it is.

Week 15 - Day 69

Friday
Not much to report today and just a couple of pictures. Things are moving along and feels like the house is being put back together, so all is good. Here is Anna, the electrician.

Week 15 - Day 68

Thursday
Glad to see that Gabe is using a harness while putting the shingles up. Will is installing the soffit now that the roof is done.  Awkward areas for both of them, but they could chit chat while they were working.

Week 15 - Day 68

Thursday
Came home to new stairs today. Very exciting.  Have been looking forward to those for two years.

Week 15 - Day 68

Thursday
Full house today, electricians Marcus and Anna are here for their first day sussing things out.

Week 15 - Day 67

Wednesday
Evening now, and now there is no water pressure to speak of in the shower.   Grrrr.. The shut off valve over the the hot water tank is no longer there and it too cold and dark to investigate the main shut off valve. Hoping it isn't open all the way and the basement shower retains it's fabulousness.

Week 15 - Day 67

Wednesday
Well, no hot water this morning. The tank was bound to go sometime as it is 10 years old.  Will ran out this afternoon to get another electrical tank after some discussion on which way to go. Turns out there was a broken wire in the cable and the old tank is working fine, so not sure if we will keep the new one or not. We now have some time to decide if we keep with the electrical tank or go in some other direction.
Plumbers are still working hard, they are putting in all the drains first. They check for leaks by filling the stacks with water and then wait and see.

Week 15 - Day 66

Tuesday
My skylight came in today.  Huge, but they promise me it won't look as big when installed. The plumbers are still working around, nice picture of the new stack, if you like that sort of thing. And our friend Bill came by to help Linda take up the rest of the parquet on her floor and some tiles that he thinks are asbestos.  Take a look at the dust on the television.

Week 15 - Day 66

Tuesday
Will and Gabe bringing in some extra shingles for patching up the back of the house where the old door was.  Required some creativity on their part and looks good.

Week 15 - Day 66

Tuesday
Look at me, behind again. Lots of activity going on, hard to keep up.  Gabe has been thinking on the stairs for the main deck.  We have had plenty of rain lately so can't be fun.  No leaks in the house though!

Week 15 - Day 65

Monday
The odd leak has sprung again.  Gabe fixed the one from the deck, water sneaking through the corner into the kitchen. The chimney for the fireplace on Linda's floor has some issues with leaking, but not sure what will be the solution for that. Plumbers worked like dogs to get the old stack at the back of the house out.  Big ugly thing that came up in front of my bathroom window from the basement and through Linda's bathroom.

Week 15 - Day 65

Monday
Everybody working hard today. Plumbers look like they are performing some kind of surgery.

Week 14 - Weekend

Week 14 - Weekend

Just a few shots of things around this weekend.  Linda spent some time working on the fireplace on her floor.  Taking off the nice 70's style brick.  The hallway had oak parquet glued on top of the fir.  We are unable to save that, but she has taken up the fir flooring in the new bathroom in hopes to use it for patching in other areas.

Week 14 - Day 65

Friday
Plumbers are working hard on the rough in.

Drainage for new bathroom on main

The second bathroom on main. The main stack
goes through here up to my bathroom,

so there you go.
