Week 32

A couple of misc shots from upstairs.  In the first picture in the bottom left corner, there is a radiator laying on the floor. One heavy motha, have no idea how these are going to be taken out. They will reused on Linda's floor and the basement in the future. I will be changing to flat fin radiators. Two hot water and 2 electric for my floor. Long story, let's just say sometimes you have to make a quick decision and that is the one I came up with. It was  too expensive to move them to a new position and the two that are staying don't have to move.

Week 32

Aaaah, tiling has finally started. I am hoping to move upstairs soon as that is completed.   That is my plan anyway, had enough of the basement.  The nice weather is coming and I am living in unheated, unlit basement.  Starting to feel like a mole, not good for anybody I would think.  Work is continuing in Linda's bathroom shower, no tiling in there yet, but it is all slowly coming together.

Week 32

Busy, busy, busy.
Lots to report and lots of pictures and lots of excuses for why I am behind on the blog.
  1. It's too hot.
  2. It's too cold.
  3. I'm too tired
  4. Broke my two front teeth.
  5. Who has the time to blog everyday?
  6. Don't feel like it
  7. I'm hungry.
  8. Blurry eyes.
  9. My feet hurt.
This is the same list of excuses I use for my golf game, by the way.

Week 31

Weekend homework.  Thought all the grunt work was done.  There was old tile under the carpet on my floor, not sure if it is vinyl or linoleum but it needed to removed.  80% came up easy, it was the last 20% that required a chisel and took up a good part of my weekend.

Week 31

What do you see there?  Could that be?  Is that tile?

Week 31

The end of another week.  The second coat on the ceiling went on today.

Week 31

As soon as the sanding was completed, Will, Sam and I swept and cleaned up to get ready for the painters who are coming in tomorrow to spray all the primer and two coats of white on the ceilings.  Now that is a job I DEFINITELY don't enjoy.  Cleaning up drywall dust not the painting, that is. I arrived home from work around 3:30pm and it was all done, the primer and a coat of white on the ceilings.  Fast, fast, fast.
Look at that, will ya'!

Week 31

Just funny.

Week 31

The final sanding got done this week, two days worth. Not a job I have ever liked doing, so thank you very much.

Week 31

Bud and Rafe are here this week to put in the power vent for the boiler, finally.  It has been turned off for about 3 weeks as it was starting to spout off black soot  up the side of the house and also coming up inside the wall on the main floor staining the insulation.  New wrinkle.  They work fast those two, when they are here.  Had just noticed the water to the garage for the garden hose had been cut of somewhere along the way and they slapped that in at the same time.

Week 31

We have started to work a bit in the garden but it is still unseasonable cold.  I have decided to get rid of the compost, as I don't want to take care of it anymore and neither does Linda.  We only get a couple of wheel barrels out of it so not worth the labour.  Now that the city is taking all kitchen and garden waste, out it goes.  Looking for less work not more.
That's the plan anyway.

Week 31

More action this week.
Sam has showed up and he has been working on finishing up the dormer at the front of the house.

Week 30

Mudding all this week, not much else to say.  Lots to do, three coats for the whole house. I am pretty good in the basement, doesn't impact me at all, when it comes to dust.  Another story for Linda since she is in grand central station and needs to rearrange everything every morning before work and then comes home to a mess to sort out  Not much longer though, we're almost through the really messy stuff and I hope the end is near for my stay in the basement. Hasn't been that bad, dark and cold, but not that bad...lol

Week 29

Prep in both bathrooms.

Week 29

More exciting drywall shots.

Week 29

Bad Bad Blogger..
What can I say, work interferes with my life.  Besides, it has been drywall days and the pictures are a bit boring.  I have received some complaining emails and phone calls, which is good, somebody is looking!
Drywall boarding is finished and they have started the taping/mudding this week. What a job and glad I am not doing it. The weather is still cool and the construction heaters are running overtime to speed up the drying.  Not much else went on this week but for that and some bits and pieces around, thanks to Rob.  With Will being one handed help was needed.  The shower on the main floor and my bathtub got prepped with a Schluter Kerdi system.  Won't be on Holmes on Homes!

Week 28

First impressions.

Week 28

Will has broken his right hand playing hockey of all things. Have to remind myself it is not all about me and my house, so I took the day off and it was 'Take your client to work day'. We took a couple of loads to the dump, had some lunch, went to Home Depot and Fontile, chit chatted and I had a nice day. What does that say, that I would rather go the dump than go to work?

Week 28

A milestone for sure. We passed inspection yesterday and DRYWALL! going up as I speak !! Yeah, I don't know how to express how great it is, but it is great.

Week 28

Linda's kitchen cabinets came this weekend.

Week 27

It is what it looks like.  They loaded drywall in on Friday !!  Exciting day.

Week 27

Openings framed to the crawl space on my floor. One is in my bedroom and the other in my old bedroom. You can see Lulu investigating in the last picture.

Week 27

The spray insulation was slated for Wednesday and they wanted us out of the house for 24 hrs.  Off to Sandra's I went for the night and kitty spent the night at the vet where he got a few shots and a checkup.  A little bit stinky upstairs the next day but good downstairs in my hovel. The city will be coming Monday for the final insulation inspection.

Week 27

As it turned out, only my kitchen came, so didn't taken up much room.
