Week 38

Linda has found someone to patch up the original fir floors on her floor and some reclaimed fir was delivered this week. What we managed to save from the house is too thin to reuse and is now fire wood.  My flooring has also arrived and I am super excited.

Week 38

My kitchen may be on hold but my flooring is coming in this week!  Before that can happen the radiators have to be removed from my floor. Will came by with a couple of strong young men, Sam and Brandon from way back. No small feat and thank you very much. We have a couple for sale, if anyone is interested?

Week 38

Week 38, that sounds like a long time, especially since there are 52 weeks in a year. This is the week of July 3 - 9. My kitchen is in hold mode, flooring has to happen before the appliances can come in, heating can't be done till flooring comes in, and other stuff can't happen till more money comes in. Linda's kitchen is slowly coming along.

Week 37

Chico Bear

Week 37

The vanities for our bathrooms came this week.  I ordered them from Costco on recommendation from a few people who have them.  They are as promised.  Well made, solid and the marble countertop is beautiful.  I, thankfully was not here when they came, but Rob and Linda took care of getting them in the house, which I understand was not an easy feat. Came with the handles, countertop and undermount sink, but need to purchase a faucet.

Week 37

Main floor kitchen coming along.

Week 37

Okay.  Catching up a bit, this week is June 26 to July 2nd.  All cabinets in my kitchen are now in place and the pulls are installed.  Now we are just waiting for the under cabinet pucks to be installed, counter, sink, faucets, appliances, hood fan...guess not finished yet. I purchased some temporary pendant lights, but now that they are up I rather like them.

Week 36

Linda started to tackle her kitchen this week.  How hard can it be. Step 1.  Put all the boxes together.  Will made his kick ass kick bases earlier in the week, so she is off and running.

Week 36

We moved up Linda's kitchen boxes up from the basement this week and now when I go back to the basement I can't believe I slept down there for as long as I did.  Don't know how I did it.  OMG!  So nice upstairs!

Week 36

Week 35 slipped passed me and I have no pictures from that week so I guess nothing happened.  We are now in the week of June 19 - 26th. Work is still going on in my kitchen and I am coping well in my little corner, all the mess on one side and me on the other.
Loving the skylight over my bed.  I wake up in the morning and wonder what the weather is and I just look up!  Due to all those years of working night shift I can sleep anytime.  The light doesn't bother me a bit, besides the sun doesn't come directly in. I see the clouds, the birds flying by, the airplanes and occasionally Lulu walking on the roof. The first time that took me by surprise.

Week 34

Aaaah, my deck! The weather has finally warmed up and I have a place to go other than spending all my time in bed. Still haven't decided on the surface yet.  One of the last things I need to decide on and I am waffling back and forth.

Week 34

Kitchen coming together.

Week 34

Lulu is VERY pleased to be back home.

Week 34

The big day has come.  I am moving upstairs regardless of what anybody says.  Had some cleanup to do up and with some assistance from Randy and Gary had my mattress moved up.  Linda and Bill wired up the TV and phone connection and I am VERY pleased to be out of the basement.

Week 34

My kitchen is coming together!  Will isn't impressed with the grey gloss cabinets from Ikea, and I suppose knowing what I know now I wouldn't go for them either.  I like the look of them still, the problems is in the difficulty of installing them due to the material. They are difficult to cut without chipping, unable to find edge banding that match.  Will has gone a big hunt, talking to Ikea, and cabinet gurus that he knows. Thank goodness I had him install them.

Week 34

Anna investigating the odd ball wiring in the garage.

Week 34

Some relief from all the white and beige pictures.

Week 34

NOTE: This is week of May 29th to June 4th.
The electricians are here this week and now I am on a last minute hunt for lighting. So many decisions that should have been made long ago.  Hopefully, I can find something I like, if not, Anna will just put in generic fixtures in place for permit purposes. Linda has found some great lighting for her kitchen in a vintage store on Commercial drive and they were installed this week.

Week 33

I am actually a month behind on the blog, so Week 33 is actually the week of May 22, just the way it is.  We are reaching the tail end of things, a little bit here and there.
The main floor bathroom is all tiled now, looks great.  I like Linda's choices on her floor, all in keeping with a heritage feel.  My floor is a more modern space.

Week 32

Ikea kitchens 101.
I think Will is secretly pleased that I am not involved in this project. He has done this before, I can tell, much faster without me asking why, why. The boxes are all assembled, the uppers and lowers are dry fit as they say, all in the blink of an eye.  Well, one day anyway.
