Week 75

April 1 - April 7, 2012

So many things to do.  Inside and out.  This is a holly at the back end of the yard that is in desperate need of pruning. Need to get that taken care of before the birdies settle in.

I apologize for the dates of the postings and the events being out of whack.  I will be caught soon and things will be put alright.

Anna came by on a Sunday to finish what she had started this week. She completed the under cabinet lighting on my floor, however the pucks are deeper than the predrilled holes so that will need to be redone at some point. There are other things I feel should be done, but they are focusing on closing the permit, so not sure when it will all get done. The number of pot lights in the basement aren't what we had asked for, more need to be installed,  there is no power in the garage, an outlet outside needs to powered up, the gas insert on the main floor, etc. The baseboard heater on my floor is still not working, so it looks like that will need to be replaced.  For now, it is up to us.  The door bell needs to be installed and the under cabinet lighting on the main, which Linda is taking care of.

March 25 - March 31, 2012

Anna, the electrician came by this week to finish up a few things in order to get the electrical inspection rolling.  The pot lights in the basement needed to be reinstalled due to failing the structural inspection way back when.  They were removed to add more floor joists in the rec room area. Here she is installing the fan in the basement bathroom.  Heater still needs to be installed there and the front entrance way on the main. One of the electrical baseboard heaters on my floor has not worked properly since it was installed.  She has installed a new thermostat so we will see.

I have my lounging sofa.  Won't be to everybody's taste as it is hard as a rock.  For someone who prefers to sit on the floor it is right up my alley and there are no loose cushions to fight with.  Perfect. 

I am like goldilocks when it comes to sofas so we will see.

Feb 12 - Feb 18, 2012

Made a few purchases this week, starting to make it feel like a home.  A carpet for my living room and a couple of stools for my bar.  Now I just need something to lounge on while watching TV instead of a yoga mat.  Nice soft carpet, keeping the cat in mind.

Feb 5 - Feb 11, 2012

I have no pictures for this week, so I guess there is nothing new.  We have a few electrical things to get done, some being done by Linda and the electricians and we can close the electrical permit.  Then some insulation and drywall in the basement and we can close the building permit.  Then just little things that we will take care of ourselves.  Railings, paint, baseboards, windows...lord..just goes on and on, doesn't it?

Jan 29 - Feb 4, 2012

Weather is starting to change at this point and I am getting urges.  Have to be honest, I have no desire in the evenings and I only really get things done if I have some time off work.  I have started to paint. Shame on you, what did you think I was talking about !!

Chose a light grey in the main living area.

Five weeks and not a thing has changed.  Christmas, winter and no one showed up.  I did try. Nice to take a break, anyway.  Oh, the plumbing is complete and we passed the final electrical inspection with the city.  That's a good thing.  Next is the electrical, so we wait.

Linda's counters were installed this week.  She went with a granite and I think it looks great.  Nice and big.  I like my kitchen but I don't have as much cabinet space and I am a little envious.

Week 57 - 59

Nov 20 - Dec 10, 2011

Nothing has happened these three weeks and is partly the reason why I hadn't updated regularly.  Not much to report. We have some things to do yet before the  last plumbing inspection. Winter is here and have spent time getting sorted out, a little unpacking, cleaning, trying to remember how to cook. Well, I remember how to cook just don't remember what to cook.  Can't remember how to shop either, still going to the store everyday wondering what I am going to have for dinner.  It is April now and I still haven't quite figured it out yet.

Guess what this bugger is doing.  If there is any sawdust or debris left in a pile, Lulu thinks it's just for him, either too lazy or trying to tell me something.  Had to keep a close eye on him and the mess since the beginning.

The last of framing required in the house is the basement.  We would like to get it insulated and boarded soon, but have to wait for the electrical.  The pot lights had been installed but some had been removed way back when we had failed one of our structural inspections.  Hard to believe I lived down here for so long.  Just proves you can get used to anything.

Philip installed my hood fan this week.  Was going to do this myself but in watching him, I wouldn't have had a clue how to go about it.  One more thing done and out of the way.

Will came by to go over the deficiency list and he brought along Philip to do a few odds and ends.  It is starting to come back to me now.  Just little things not worth mentioning, but grateful to see some things getting done.  Winter setting in, darker earlier day by day and losing motivation to get my things done.  Oh Well.

We are starting to get some company again.  The heat is not up to snuff, perhaps when we get some new windows, window coverings and some furniture around it won't feel like a windy bowling alley.

Nada, other than going through boxes slowly.  Finding things I haven't seen in a couple of years, some things in about 8 years as they were packed up when we bought the other house and I didn't need them.  Setting up the kitchen, figuring how things will work.  Just getting used to things.

Week 52

We are both bringing more or our belongings back into the house.  Strange to have my own space and my own things around me again.
