Week 9 - Day 43

Friday
Rain and more rain in the forecast, grrrr. Holding up things for the roof.
Not much to report for today.  They spent the day on the top floor.  Back filling for drywall, cleaning up a bit, so they can get started on wiring up there. As we are going to have 2 legal suites, the electrical needs to be separate from the main. A garbage truck came for the rubble and drywall today, so things look nice and tidy.
Oh! I am officially caught up, so on real time now.

Week 9 - Day 42

Thursday
The fight continues in the basement. They managed to get 6 of the joists done today. Still a tight squeeze, but not the struggle as yesterday. Getting there.

Week 9 - Day 41

Wednesday
The pictures probably won't mean anything, but can see the tight fit and the pain in the %$# it must have been. One post was required to go right where the new electrical panel is, and a few need to go through the shower in the basement bathroom and around the toilet.  I had really hoped not to touch the shower stall in there.  Not a thing wrong with it and it is the best shower in the house, best shower ever.  Will has been great, looking for a solution that could avoid all this.  Smarty pants did come up with something, put in a call to the engineer who agreed and he now has a work around, as they say.  Would have been a pain in the &^% for them also, so smiles all around.
Mess is getting to me a bit this week, but I just go hide in my hole and pretend otherwise. Still waiting for some nice weather so we can get at the roof, but the forecast is not looking good. Rain Rain Rain all week and more.

Week 9 - Day 41

Wednesday
Picture of the basement ceiling showing the kind of space they have to squeeze the 2 x 10's in. Can see where the copper pipe was cut and any electrical came out. Quite a few still to go.

Week 9 - Day 41

Wednesday
They have pretty much destroyed the basement and our makeshift kitchen.  The price to pay for staying in the house, I guess, so no complaining. It appears to have been a tough day for them.  The last of the joists for the structural work all involve removing plumbing and electrical that is in the way. The space is tight and I think there may have been some grunting going on.  They managed to get 2 whole joists done and the basement looks like a bomb hit it. Breakers are still blowing here and there, the dryer is out for the night. This too, shall pass. Someday.

Week 9 - Day 40

Tuesday
New french doors in the main floor master.

Week 9 - Day 40

Tuesday
I think Will should grow the beard till the job is finished. Instead of a hockey beard, a reno beard. Could start a new trend.

Week 9 - Day 40

Tuesday
I am so happy that the electrical and the plumbing is going to updated. Goofy stuff everywhere.

The wrong way
The right way

Week 9 - Day 40

Tuesday
Petit a petit, l'oiseau fait son nid.
Little by little, the bird builds its nest.

More work in the master, taking out the what is left of the en suite.  The last of the point loading is in this room and the basement, so they have saved the 'best' for last. In a weak moment, Will agreed to us staying in the house.  Must of been sniffing something. Actually, I saw him wavering a little, so I bribed them the promise of some cooking and it pushed him over the edge.

Week 9 - Day 39

Monday
Getting the the patio door in.

Week 9 - Day 39

Monday
Right at it this morning.  I always know something is up when I come by and they are both quiet and pondering the situation.  They claim the wall is tilted and they were discussing the options.

Week 8 - Day 38

Friday
The reordered french patio door for the main floor master came today. It is going to be terrific for that bedroom as it has always been dark and dingy in there. This used to be the en-suite in that room, you can see the tub in the one picture. Time got away with them, so they ended up boarding it for the weekend.

Week 8 - Day 38

Friday

Week 8 - Day 38

To skylight or not to skylight, that is the question.

Week 8 - Day 37

Thursday
Can you believe it is December already?  They are nearing the end of the demo and framing.  The old stairs to upstairs are pretty much gone and closed up which gives me a better idea of what my space will be like. Will is threatening to kick us out for a few days.  There is the last of the point load stuff to be done in the basement, right through the laundry room and the basement bathroom. Oh, and right behind the new electrical panel. So the water and the power will need to be shut off for about 3 days he says.  Aaah, I wouldn't put it past him to not let us back in once he has us out of here. Nothing else has worked.  Maybe I should get it writing.
